What we learned and what's next

19 February 2026

Through in-person engagement, open houses and community feedback activities, residents and user groups shared their ideas and priorities for how to use the Community Room at Albert McCormick Community Centre. Feedback came from a wide range of participants, including seniors, families, children and community organizations that regularly use the facility.

What we learned:

  • Strong interest in community gathering and social spaces
Residents value AMCC as a hub for connection and want spaces that support drop-in programs, group activities, celebrations and informal gatherings.
  • Programs and spaces for all ages and abilities
Feedback highlighted the importance of inclusive spaces that serve seniors, adults, youth, and children. Respondents emphasized accessibility, comfort and ease of use for people with different mobility needs.
  • Support for physical, leisure, and creative activities
Community members expressed excitement about opportunities for physical activity, arts and crafts, leisure programming and private or small group rentals.
  • Affordability and accessibility
Several comments noted the importance of keeping programs affordable, including reduced-fee or low-cost options, to ensure the centre remains welcoming and accessible to the broader community.
  • Flexible, multi-use space
There is a desire for spaces that can adapt to different uses throughout the day, from senior drop-ins and children’s activities to community meetings and rentals.

How this will be used:

What’s next:
