Region of Waterloo Libraries are community hubs where people connect.
The Township of Woolwich and Region of Waterloo Library aim to expand library services in Bloomingdale. The goal is to seek community input on the proposed new branch location within Bloomingdale Community Centre.
Community feedback will inform the decision-making process for the new library location and features.
Region of Waterloo Libraries
The Region of Waterloo currently operates 11 library branches across the Region’s rural municipalities.
The Township of Woolwich and Region of Waterloo Library staff have identified an opportunity to expand library service in the community of Bloomindale by providing a custom library space in the Bloomingdale Community Centre.
The proposed location had been identified as a potential space for a library branch because it meets important facility requirements, located near community park space and accessible parking and presents unique programing opportunities.
Overview of Library Services in Bloomingdale
- Region of Waterloo Library operate various branches and satellite locations. The objective is to enhance these services in the community of Bloomingdale.
- The current location, at 860A Sawmill Road, Bloomingdale, is 400 square feet of space within the Bloomingdale United Church.
- The community centre’s space, nearly 800 square feet, allows for a library with an expanded collection, public access computer and Wi-Fi, and varied programming.
- Adjacent recreational space provides one-stop access to park and library services.
- Building is accessible with at-grade level parking, including accessible parking spaces, barrier-free access to the building, and push-button door operator on building entrance.
Bloomingdale Community Centre
The Bloomingdale Community Centre is a municipally owned and operated community asset with public programming, a serving kitchen, rentable space and accessibility features. It is located beside Bloomingdale Park that offers facilities including ball diamonds, pavilion, playground and seasonal public washrooms.

- Survey: Available online from February 23 – March 23, 2026
- Explore the Space: Drop by the potential branch location in the Bloomingdale Community Centre. Open house events will be an opportunity to tour the proposed location and discuss details with library staff. Printed surveys will be available at open house events. Dates include:
- Tuesday, March 17 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
- Wednesday, March 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm
