Kitchener is growing and changing, and so is technology. We’re reviewing the Digital Kitchener Strategy to make sure it still fits with what our community needs today and in the future. This review will guide the way we serve our customers, making sure our approach remains innovative, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of our grown community.

The Digital Kitchener Strategy is about using technology to make life better for everyone in our city. It helps guide the City of Kitchener on how we use technology to serve the community.
In 2017, the City created the strategy using feedback from the community and staff. The purpose was to make Kitchener a smarter, more connected, and more inclusive city. The strategy focused on using technology to make life better for everyone – by improving internet access, supporting innovation, and offering better online services.
The City is reviewing this strategy in 2025 to make sure it still meets the needs of the people who live and work here. The review will:
- Look at the work that has been done so far and how it’s benefitted the community
- Engage with community members, stakeholders, and city staff to learn about their challenges and needs
- Find new ideas and technologies, like artificial intelligence (AI), to efficiently serve the community
- Plan for the future so that technology initiatives align with community priorities and emerging trends
The updated strategy will guide future work and show how Kitchener is using technology to create a better connected and more inclusive city. It will help the city stay up to date with new technology and continue to be a leader in innovation – and make sure no one is left behind.

Kitchener mapped locations for free public Wi-Fi and computer access to support digital inclusivity.
