Join a working group for the Waterloo Region Alternate Destination Clinics project

What is the opportunity?

A community Steering Committee was formed in June 2023 and to help move this project forward, we are now recruiting working group members.

The list of working group opportunities is below. If you are interested in joining a working group, complete this short survey by Tuesday, September 18th. Honorarium are available for individuals not being paid to attend the meetings by their employer. Working group meeting times and frequency will be decided by each working group at its first meeting.

Who are we looking for?

The working groups are open to:

  • Mental health and addiction service providers in Waterloo Region
  • Community organizations serving Waterloo Region
  • People with lived experience using mental health or addiction services in Waterloo Region
  • Family members, caregivers and circle of care friends of people with experience using mental health or addiction services in Waterloo Region

1) Clinic Services Working Group

Responsibilities:

  • Clinic and client logistics, e.g., staffing models, hours of operation, location options, etc.
  • Referral pathway creation, both into the clinic and from the clinic to community resources
  • Services and treatments to be provided at the clinic

2) Advocacy and Funding Working Group

Responsibilities:

  • Identify funding sources and advocacy options
  • Write funding application(s)
  • Develop key messages for advocacy

3) Community Engagement and Health Equity Working Group

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a community communication plan including key messages
  • Develop community engagement strategies
  • Identify strategies to support equity-deserving communities to reduce health inequities
  • Identify ways to support active community participation and broad representation at all project phases

4) Evaluation Working Group

Responsibilities:

  • Develop an evaluation plan and key performance indicators
  • Collect, analyze, and report data to demonstrate project success and inform decision-making and continuous improvements
  • Share findings with the Steering Committee, Ministry and community partners
