We appreciate everyone who took the time to participate in our recent survey. Your input will help guide updates to the Athletic Awards Banquet policy program. Here are some highlights from the survey results:

Award criteria

• 93% said the current criteria are appropriate or very appropriate.
• If expanded, the top suggestion was to include any medalist from an international tournament (93%).
• Another notable suggestion was to include any medalist from a national tournament (57%).

Event timing

• The most preferred option for the banquet date was the second week of March, followed closely by the second week of February and the idea of hosting two events per year.

Banquet attendance and experience

• 71% of respondents have attended the Athletic Awards in the past five years.
• Of those who attended, 100% rated their experience at the current location as either excellent or good.

Location preferences

• If a new venue is considered, the top suggestion was The Aud (58%), followed by the Kitchener Indoor Recreation Centre (42%) and Victoria Park Pavilion (25%).

Programming

• The award ceremony was ranked as the most valued program item.
• Suggestions for additions were split: 50% recommended an adult lounge after the ceremony, while 50% preferred no changes.

Awards

• The most meaningful physical award option was a trophy (64%).

Next Steps

City staff will use these insights to update the Athletic Awards policy and present it to Council for approval, likely in the new year.
