The Township of Woolwich is currently working with Triton Engineering on the engineering design of Duke Street from First St. E to Church St. E in Elmira. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2028, with the completion expected in the fall of 2029, subject to Council’s final approval.

The scope of the Duke Street reconstruction is to include the replacement of the existing storm sewer, sanitary sewer, cellar drain (where applicable) and watermain networks along with all individual water services, sanitary laterals and cellar laterals (where applicable) up to the property line. Surface works are to include new concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk and a new pavement structure with a new granular base and asphalt. Any areas disturbed as a result of the construction project such as walkways, driveways and grassed areas will be restored to Township standards.

The purpose of the Public Consultation Centre is to present the project to the Public and receive feedback from affected residents and stakeholders. The Public Consultation Centre will be held on June 4th, 2026, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at 24 Snyder Avenue South, Elmira in the Community Centre Room. Study Plans and project overview will be available on this page beginning May 25th to June 12th.

Where possible the Township will make efforts to minimize the amount of disruption to your day-to-day activities; however, major reconstruction projects such as this will inevitably have some disruptions. Any residents who may have special needs are asked to contact the Township so that the appropriate measures can be taken during construction.
