We're working to improve five neighbourhood parks in Lancaster West: Arnold Park, Ash Park, Hillside Park, Lips Park, and Guelph Street Park. Together, these parks are places where people play, exercise, relax, gather, and connect with their neighbours.
Each park currently offers something a little different:
- Arnold Park: A small, well-shaded park focused on play and open space.
- Ash Park: A quiet local park with playgrounds, swings, and room for informal play.
- Hillside Park: Home to the neighbourhood's toboggan hill and T-ball diamond.
- Lips Park: A larger green space with trails, playgrounds, and community history.
- Guelph Street Park: A busy spot for active recreation with courts, trails, and seasonal skating.
Many of the park features are getting older and need to be replaced or updated. Instead of planning improvements for each park separately, we're looking at how the five parks can work together to offer a variety of places to play, gather, explore, and enjoy outdoor activities. We're also exploring opportunities for public art, better connections between parks, and features that help people find and enjoy different parts of the park network.
Residents know these parks best. Whether you use them often, occasionally, or would like to use them more in the future, your feedback can help identify what's working well, what needs improvement, and what is most important to you and your family.
We want to hear from a wide range of people, including residents, park users, families, youth, older adults, nearby schools, and community organizations.
Your feedback will help shape improvements across all five parks.
In Phase 1, we'll ask for input on priorities, park features, and ideas for the future. This feedback will be used to develop concept designs for each park and help determine which park could serve as a main neighbourhood gathering park with additional features and investment.
In Phase 2, we'll share the proposed designs and ask for feedback on the details, including layouts, materials, park features, and possible activities.
Community feedback, along with technical studies, site conditions, project budgets, and City policies, will help guide the final designs for all five parks.
