About the final design

Based on community feedback, the final design includes dedicated toddler, intermediate, and active play zones that support a range of ages and abilities. It also has shade shelters, new shade trees, a shade sail over the toddler area, and seating opportunities distributed throughout the splash pad area to improve comfort and support longer visits.

The final design supports family use by creating connected play spaces that allow caregivers to supervise children of different ages from nearby seating and gathering areas while maintaining clear visibility across the splash pad.

What We Heard: Lions Park Splashpad

Thank you to everyone who took the time to review the splashpad concepts and share feedback.

Throughout the engagement process, residents told us they wanted a splashpad that is fun, inclusive, comfortable, and safe for families. The proposed design reflects many of the priorities we heard from the community.

You told us age-appropriate play spaces are important

Residents wanted play opportunities that appeal to children of different ages and abilities. In response, the proposed design includes three distinct play areas: Toddler Zone, Intermediate Zone, and Active Zone.

These spaces help create a comfortable experience for younger children while still providing exciting opportunities for more active play.

You told us families need places to sit, gather, and supervise

Many participants highlighted the importance of comfortable spaces for caregivers and family members. The proposed design includes:

  • Multiple seating areas
  • Seat walls around the splashpad
  • Shade shelters with seating
  • A shade sail

These features will provide places to relax, socialize, and supervise children at play.

You told us shade matters

Access to shade was a key theme in the feedback. To help make the splashpad more comfortable during hot summer days, the proposed design includes new shade structures and additional tree planting throughout the site.

You told us safety should be a priority

Community members emphasized the importance of creating a safe environment for families. The proposed design includes an extension of the baseball diamond netting to help improve safety between the splashpad area and nearby sports facilities.

You told us the splashpad should work well with the rest of the park

Residents wanted the splashpad to feel connected to other park amenities. The proposed design places the Toddler Zone near the existing swings and integrates seating, pathways, and gathering spaces to support a family-friendly park experience.
