Upgrades at Meadowlane Park begin construction early July

18 June 2025

Work will begin in early July at Meadowlane Park to make a number of improvements based on community feedback. These upgrades are designed to make the park more enjoyable for everyone, while also helping to improve water quality and reduce the risk of flooding. The project is part of the City’s efforts to prepare for more frequent and intense storms caused by climate change.

During construction, some areas of the park will be closed off with fencing. Other parts may still be open, but visitors should follow all posted signs. Construction is expected to be finished by late 2026.

New features coming to the park include:

  • A nature exploration area
  • A natural play area
  • A quiet seating area
  • A stormwater management pond
  • 700 new trees
  • Expanded pollinator gardens
  • Paved trails

The final design for Meadowlane Park was shaped by community feedback and supports the City’s efforts to prepare for climate change. With funding from the federal Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund, the project includes important infrastructure upgrades to help manage stormwater and reduce flood risks. At the same time, it adds new features that make the park more enjoyable and attractive, contributing to the ongoing beautification of parks and natural spaces across Kitchener.
