What we heard about construction and how we engaged

21 July 2025

On March 25, 2025, we hosted our third open house for Meadowlane Park. Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared their feedback on the construction and engagement process.

For a detailed report on what we heard from community members at the open house and online, please read the summary.

Common Themes

  • Design: Most of you supported the final design. You appreciated the improvements made since the earlier concepts. Mount Frederick remains a key feature for winter use, views, and community value.
  • Natural Look: You liked the addition of natural elements like ponds, trees, and pollinator zones. It’s important to protect existing trees.
  • Trail Networks: Shaded and accessible trails, seating, and gathering spaces are important to you.
  • Safety: We heard that safety around stormwater ponds remains important. You voiced construction safety concerns around truck traffic, haul routes, and pedestrian areas.
  • Construction: We heard that it’s important to:
    • limit the number of disruptions in the neighbourhood
    • think about alternative routes
    • restrict truck traffic around school hours
  • Engagement: You appreciated talking with knowledgeable staff, the kids’ activities, and refreshments.

You suggested having on-site staff to help answer questions and keep things safe.

Next Steps

Construction is expected to begin in Summer 2025 and continue through Summer 2026. We will share construction updates about:

  • Construction milestones
  • Trail closures or detours
  • Reopening dates and future plans

Thank you to everyone who participated in shaping this project. The community feedback has helped to ensure that Meadowlane Park will be improved. Meadowlane Park will be a more accessible and enjoyable space for everyone.
