Open Burn Survey

In 2011 City Council adopted the City of Waterloo’s Open Burning By-Law. This By-Law prohibits citizens to set or maintain an open air fire using solid fuel at any time unless an exemption has been granted by the Chief Fire Prevention Officer. Recently City Council has debated whether open burning should be permitted within city boundaries, but eventually voted to keep the ban on open fires. Waterloo Fire Rescue is interested in surveying what other practices are implemented in the province as well as seeks any open burning By-Laws.  If your department is willing to share information regarding open air burning in your community please complete the survey and send any open burning by-laws to Deputy Chief Sandy van Solm sandy.vansolm@waterloo.ca
