Thd naming contest is over. Thanks for helping us name six more snow plows!

Last year, residents sent us thousands of fun and creative names for Kitchener snow plows, and then voted for their favourite names. Over the past season, you might have seen some of these vehicles clearing city streets: Brrlin, Mr. Plow, Plowabunga, Plowasaurus Rex, Snow-Be-Gone Kenobi, or Ziggy Zaggy Ziggy Zaggy Plow Plow Plow. To see these plows in action, visit our Instagram.

Our Operations team is now looking to name six more snow clearing vehicles to get them ready for next winter – and they need your help to choose the best names! We’ll announce the winners in the spring then reveal the snow plows with their new names later this year.

We have selected fun new names for six of Kitchener’s snowplows based on votes from members of the community! Last month, we asked you to choose your favourites from a list of top names suggested by Kitchener residents. We received hundreds of responses and are thrilled to announce the winning names for six snow plows you’ll see keeping our streets clear in the 2024/2025 winter season!

    • The Blizzard of Oz

    • Buzz Iceclear

    • Say It Ain’t Snow

    • Scoopy Doo

    • Frosty the Snowplow

    • Baby Snowda

These newly named plows will join the six that our community named last year, which you may have seen throughout the city this winter as they’ve helped keep roads free from snow and safe for travel. If you missed them, you can see them all on the City of Kitchener’s Instagram account.

During Public Works Week in May, we’ll be revealing decals on our six newly named plows, so be sure to stay tuned! Thank you to everyone who helped us name our plows this year. We can’t wait to see them out on the streets in the coming winter season.
