Shape your park network: Kinzie Oaten and Idlewood

We are taking a new approach to upgrading or improving neighbourhood parks and playgrounds. This approach looks at clusters of neighbourhood parks that are close to one another and considers them as part of a ‘parks network’. Instead of upgrading one park at a time, we will make changes across the whole network. This way, we can better serve the community by building a variety of features across the greater neighbourhood.

In the next two years we plan to upgrade the park network across Centreville Chicopee and Stanley Park neighbourhoods. We will also connect the park network upgrades with those happening at Centreville Chicopee Community Centre.

Kinzie Park, Oaten Park and Idlewood Park are part of this park network. Maps of each of the parks in this network can be found in the Photos section.

Why was Springmount Park not part of this revitilization? The play structure is very dated and had issues with rust, one small swing set, and a large field that has potential but nothing done there.

Hello and thank you for your question,

Springmount Park has recently had a number of minor improvements made and is not currently scheduled for a rehabilitation project.

Will Springmount Park be part of this or a future planning session/project?

CraigR asked about 2 years ago

Hello and thanks for the question!  Springmount Park will not be part of this current network of park improvements. Idlewood, Kinzie, and Oaten Parks as well as Fergus Green are part of this particular scope of work for 2022-2023.  However, please feel free to reach out to our staff directly if you have any specific questions or concerns about Springmount.
