Mallory Rare tours of the bell tower will be offered for Doors Open at this striking granite-and-limestone Gothic Revival church with its patterned slate roof. Central’s elegant beauty and picturesque location beside the Grand River make it one of Waterloo Region’s great church buildings, and immediately recognizable. The tower with its 184-foot spire contains ten memorial bells, chimed weekly from a stand of wooden handles connected to rods and chains in the steeple. The church has a large seating capacity, a beautiful curving gallery of 1889, 19th century stained glass and eleven 20th century memorial stained glass windows, and a 1928 Casavant organ with over 2,000 pipes.
