Progress since last Update:

· Storm sewer installation in Phase 2 working east from Argyle Street

· Completion of service installations in phase 1

Upcoming work over the next couple of weeks:

· Storm Sewer installation working west from Lowther Street in Phase 2 for approximately 3 weeks

· Sanitary and storm service connections working west from Lowther Street in Phase 2 for approximately 3 weeks

· Starting next week crews will begin building the roadway with gravel to prepare for curbs and asphalt starting in Phase 1 (Dover Street to almost Westminster Drive)

· Once the road is prepared, curbs and asphalt will follow (Dover Street to almost Westminster Drive)

· When preparing for curb installation, crews will remove the tall metal fence and reinstall the orange safety fence

We want to remind everyone that King Street will remain open to one lane of traffic in each direction for the duration of construction. For safety reasons, on-street parking on King Street will not be permitted within the construction zone.

Progress since last Update:

· Gas main work on King Street between Argyle Street and Lowther Street has been completed early!

· Sanitary Sewer is complete between Dover Street to Argyle Street

· Storm Sewer has been installed in Phase 1 (From Dover to Argyle), this completes the underground sewer installation in Phase 1.

Upcoming work over the next couple of weeks:

· Crews continue storm sewer installation in Phase 2 working east from Argyle Street and then west from Lowther Street

· Crews continue installing underground services to buildings in Phase 2 (Westminster to Lowther)

· Crews will begin preparing the roadway to place curbs in Phase 1 (Dover to Argyle) late next week, followed by asphalt the following week.

We want to remind everyone that King Street will remain open to one lane of traffic in each direction for the duration of construction. For safety reasons, on-street parking on King Street will not be permitted within the construction zone.

· Temporary watermain has been installed, both stage 1 and stage 2 of the project are on the temporary watermain.

· Start sanitary sewer replacement between Dover Street and Argyle Street

· Gas main installation between Lowther Street and Church Street is complete

Upcoming work over the next couple of weeks:

· Continue sanitary sewer replacement between Dover Street and Argyle Street

· Start storm sewer replacement at Dover Street, working towards Argyle Street.

· Union Gas will continue with the replacement of the gas main, service installations and commissioning on the north side of the street over the next couple weeks between Lowther Street and Westminster Street.

We want to remind everyone that King Street will remain open to one lane of traffic in each direction for the duration of construction. For safety reasons, on-street parking on King Street will not be permitted within the construction zone.

Asphalt removals in Stage 1 (King Street between Dover Street and Argyle Street) are complete, and temporary watermain installation is underway.

Starting next week, crews will be working at the Dover Street intersection to begin the installation of sanitary sewer. In order for this work to be completed safely, traffic at Dover Street on King Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic and flagged during the days, and opened up to two lanes for the evenings.

The sanitary sewer along this stretch of King Street is very deep. To maintain the space for a lane of traffic and to ensure the safety of the crew during the sanitary installation, crews will be using a trench box. Trench boxes help maintain the structure and safety of the trench while workers are completing their work. The picture below shows how a trench box is used during the installation of sanitary sewers.

Progress since last Update:

· Asphalt removals on the north side of King Street in Stage 1.

· Temporary watermain installation in Stage 1 is complete.

· Sanitary sewer replacement in Stage 2 completed between Lowther Street and Argyle Street.

Upcoming work over the next couple of weeks:

· Union Gas will be on site replacing the gas main on the north side of the street over the next few weeks between Lowther Street and Westminster Street.

· Sanitary sewer replacement to start at Dover Street working south toward Argyle Street.

· Underground sanitary sewer work at Dover Street intersection (this intersection will be reduced to one lane of traffic for approximately 1 week).

· Sanitary sewer service installation in Stage 2 (between Lowther Street and Argyle Street)

We want to remind everyone that King Street will remain open to one lane of traffic in each direction for the duration of construction. For safety reasons, on-street parking on King Street will not be permitted within the construction zone.

Last week, while removing the asphalt, crews unearthed the old street railway ties. The Region’s archaeological consultant ASI measured and documented their location and condition before removal in accordance with Ministry standards and guidelines.

· Sanitary sewer replacement has started:

Upcoming work over the next couple of weeks:

· Union Gas will be on site replacing the gas main on the north side of King Street between Lowther Street and Westminster Street.

· Sanitary sewer replacement will continue between Lowther Street and Argyle Street.

· Crews will begin work in Stage 1 (Dover Street to Argyle Street) including assembly and testing of the temporary watermain, shift traffic lanes to the south side of King Street, asphalt removal on the north side of King Street and possibly start the sanitary sewer replacement at Dover Street

Construction continues this week, as crews switch buildings over to the temporary watermain along King Street between Laurel Street and Argyle Street.

Progress to Date:

· Streetlights on the north side of the road have been removed within the construction area

· Temporary watermain (blue pipe) along King Street between Laurel Street and Argyle Street has been set up and tested

· The existing King Street watermain has been disconnected from all of the side streets to get ready for its removal

Upcoming work over the couple of weeks:

· Temporary watermain hookups will continue next week. This will result in a temporary water disruption during this transfer. Affected businesses and residents will be notified at least 48 hours in advance.

· Traffic will be shifted to the south side of the street (maintaining one lane of traffic in each direction).

· Asphalt removals will start on the north side of the street.

· Sanitary sewer replacement will begin, starting at Lowther Street moving west toward Argyle Street.

We want to remind everyone that King Street will remain open to one lane of traffic in each direction for the duration of construction, and on-street parking on King Street will not be permitted within the construction zone. · A portion of the sidewalk has been removed

· Construction fencing has been installed

· Temporary watermain (blue pipe) is being set up to provide water to all buildings during construction

· King Street watermain has been disconnected from the watermains on Lowther Street and Church Street preparing for replacement of the King Street watermain.

Upcoming work over the next couple of weeks:

· The south side of the street will be connected to temporary water by next week, followed by the north side. This will result in a temporary water disruption during this transfer. Affected businesses and residents will be notified at least 48 hours in advance.

· Traffic will be shifted to the south side of the street (maintaining one lane of traffic in each direction).

· Begin asphalt removals on the north side of the street.

· All pedestrian areas will be restored with asphalt.

Construction began on Monday April 8th, crews are now setting up traffic control and starting removal of the benches, planters, trees and some sidewalk panels to allow them to set up the temporary watermain (blue pipe). This temporary watermain, once safely tested, will provide every property with water while we replace the permanent watermain.
